19th Asan Medical Prize awarded to Professors Lee Ho-young and Kim Seung-up
The Asan Foundation awarded the 19th Asan Medical Prize to Professors Lee Ho-young and Kim Seung-up for their significant achievements in basic and clinical medicine.
On the 18th, the Asan Foundation held the 19th Asan Medical Prize award ceremony at the Lotte Hotel in Seoul, where Professors Lee Ho-young from Seoul National University and Kim Seung-up from Yonsei University Severance Hospital were honored for their contributions in their respective fields. They received cash prizes of 300 million won each for their exceptional work in basic and clinical medicine. Additionally, the Young Scientist Award was given to Professors Martin Steiniger and Lee Ju-myung, both of whom are under 45 years old, recognizing their contributions to the field alongside a prize of 50 million won each.
Established in 2008, the Asan Medical Prize aims to encourage medical scientists who have made outstanding achievements in both basic and clinical medicine. To date, the prize has been awarded to a total of 61 individuals, including 16 in the basic research category and 17 in clinical medicine, highlighting the remarkable contributions made by scientists in Korea. The award not only acknowledges their significant achievements but also motivates young and emerging scientists in the medical field to continue their innovative work.
