Professor Kim Hyung-nam of Sejong University Receives Award in Dance at the 39th Korea Arts and Culture Awards
Professor Kim Hyung-nam from Sejong University was awarded the Best in Dance at the 39th Korea Arts and Culture Awards.
Professor Kim Hyung-nam from Sejong University's Department of Dance recently received the prestigious Best in Dance award during the 39th Korea Arts and Culture Awards ceremony held on September 25. This award, governed by the Korea Arts and Culture Federation, acknowledges artists who have made significant contributions to the enhancement of Korean arts and cultural enjoyment since its inception in 1987. Kim was recognized for his extensive contributions to both creative arts and academia.
In his illustrious career, Kim has served as President of the Korean Modern Dance Association and Vice President of the Korean Dance Association, contributing to the experimental creation of performing arts. He is also the director of the Sejong Dance Content Research Institute and has played a pivotal role in the Play And Dance Art Festival, which serves as a springboard for emerging artists. His initiatives include fostering international exchange networks and promoting art production platforms through events like MODAFE.
Moreover, as a former president of the Korea Dance Society, Kim has convened significant conferences focusing on the future of dance technology, including topics like Metaverse integration and AI image processing. He was mentored by Choi Cheong-ja, a pioneering figure in Korean modern dance, who significantly influenced the development of contemporary dance in Korea during the Seoul Olympics. In his acceptance speech, Kim expressed his commitment to further advancing the field of dance in Korea.
