The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Nigeria has announced a comprehensive deployment of personnel and operational logistics in preparation for its 2026 Eid-el-Fitri special patrol operations. Scheduled to take place from March 17 to March 22, 2026, these operations aim to ensure safe travel and reduce the incidence of road crashes during the festive period, as families travel to celebrate the holiday.

Corps Marshal Shehu Mohammed emphasized that the initiative is a part of the corps’ broader mandate to promote safer road usage across the nation. The special patrol operations will involve heightened visibility of patrol units, the strategic placement of rescue teams on major highways, and increased efforts in public enlightenment to educate motorists on safe driving practices during the busy travel period. This initiative is particularly critical given the influx of traffic typically seen around the Eid celebrations.

In a statement released by the FRSC's Corps Public Education Officer, Felicia Kalu, it was reiterated that these measures are essential not only for ensuring the safety of travelers but also for maintaining an orderly flow of traffic.
