In Machala, Ecuador, during the second day of a curfew aimed at combating organized crime, law enforcement agencies conducted controlled demolitions of three buildings linked to criminal activities. The operations, which were supported by elite police units, specifically targeted the Las Katias sector in southern Machala. According to José Cóndor, the head of the Judicial Police in Machala, these locations served as collection and operational centers for criminal organizations.

Investigative efforts led to the identification of these structures through various means, including human intelligence. In one of the properties, police discovered an explosive device as well as two chairs believed to have been used for holding individuals captive, alongside threats and extortion tactics. Authorities have indicated that a criminal group operating in the area is involved in kidnapping, extortion, intimidation with explosives, and contract killings.

The police affirmed their commitment to dismantling these criminal structures, emphasizing that this operation marks the beginning of ongoing efforts to confront organized crime in the region. As curfews are enforced, further operations are expected to continue targeting these dangerous elements, aiming to restore safety and order in the affected communities.
