10 arrested, weapons seized and vehicles recovered during operations in Guayaquil and Durán, on the second day of curfew
Police operations during the second day of curfew in Guayaquil and Durán led to the arrest of 10 individuals, the seizure of firearms, and the recovery of stolen vehicles.
In Ecuador's Metropolitan District of Guayaquil, police executed focused interventions during the second day of a curfew, yielding significant results such as the capture of ten people, the confiscation of firearms and ammunition, and the recovery of vehicles. According to Ecuador's National Police Commander, Pablo Dávila, these operations were strategically timed to leverage the restrictions on movement imposed by the curfew.
The interventions spanned various neighborhoods in Guayaquil, including Prosperina, Pascuales, Florida, and 9 de Octubre, as well as the adjacent area of Durán. More than 40 search warrants were executed, targeting specific objectives and allowing law enforcement to effectively conduct these operations overnight. Dávila noted that the curfew provided an opportunity to enhance the precision of targeted actions against criminal activities throughout the area.
Among the detained individuals were eight adults, one woman, and a minor, indicating the widespread impact of the law enforcement efforts. The police also seized numerous technological devices and military-grade clothing, alongside substances regulated by law, further highlighting the range of criminal activities being addressed during this enforcement surge. This robust response to crime serves as part of broader efforts by authorities to maintain security in the region amid rising concerns over public safety in Ecuador.
