Second day of the curfew results in arrests, seized vehicles, and confiscation of weapons and drugs

The second day of the curfew in Ecuador led to multiple arrests, vehicle seizures, and drug confiscations in various regions, including Guayas and Los Ríos.

The second day of the curfew, which is in effect in Guayas, Los Ríos, El Oro, and Santo Domingo, has produced operational results across different areas of Ecuador. On the first day of the curfew on March 15th, a total of 253 individuals were arrested nationwide. In southern Guayaquil, police personnel conducted checks to ensure compliance with the mobility restrictions and enhance security, leading to the apprehension of 15 people, along with the seizure of five vehicles and three motorcycles.

In the canton of Milagro within Guayas, two alleged members of the criminal group Los Águilas were caught in the act during an operation termed Atlas XXXI. The police reported that these individuals were connected to an attack on a police officer's vehicle and were in possession of weapons and substances regulated by law. The operation resulted in the confiscation of a revolver, ammunition, and over 168 bags and one block of an unidentified substance.

The ongoing curfew is part of Ecuador's broader efforts to combat crime and violence, particularly in regions heavily affected by gang activity. The significant number of arrests and seizures during the curfew highlights the government's urgency to restore order and security in these troubled areas, reflecting a continuing struggle against organized crime and public safety challenges in the country.
