Police Officer Arrested for Attempted Peeping Inside a Skirt in Wakayama
A police officer from Wakayama was arrested for attempting to take illicit photos under a girl’s skirt in Osaka.
On the 15th of the month, the Osaka Prefectural Police arrested a 47-year-old officer from the Wakayama Prefectural Police, Kohei Goto, on suspicion of attempting to violate the law against sexual misconduct by trying to photograph under a middle school girl's skirt. According to reports, the incident occurred around 4:10 PM in a commercial facility in Osaka's Kita Ward, where Goto allegedly approached a girl from Kagawa Prefecture and attempted to use his smartphone to take a picture underneath her skirt.
The situation came to light as plainclothes officers, who were conducting surveillance in the area, witnessed Goto's actions. Upon questioning him, they discovered that his phone was set to record video at the time of the incident. The arrested officer reportedly acknowledged the allegations against him, revealing the seriousness of the offense and its implications on trust in law enforcement.
This incident raises significant concerns not only about personal privacy violations and public safety but also regarding the integrity of policing institutions. As Goto was in the midst of his duties, the arrest serves as a grim reminder of the challenges law enforcement faces in maintaining ethical standards among its ranks. This violation of trust might impact how the community views local law enforcement going forward.
