Man in a managerial position at the Board of Education arrested on suspicion of attempted voyeurism against a high school girl, partially denies charges
A 55-year-old education official from Itoshima City was arrested on suspicion of attempting to take inappropriate photos of a female high school student, with partial denial of the charges.
A 55-year-old man, Takashi Fukuda, who holds a managerial position in the Itoshima City Board of Education, has been arrested by Fukuoka Prefectural Police on suspicion of violating the law against the illegal filming of sexual acts. He is accused of trying to take an inappropriate picture of a 17-year-old high school girl on a train at JR Shuwandera Station in Fukuoka City on December 16 last year. Fukuda partially denied the allegations, stating, 'I do not remember the circumstances well, but it is true that the act was committed.' The incident came to light after a fellow passenger reported to train staff about Fukuda allegedly taking a picture of a sleeping high school girl seated next to him. Following this report, police interrogated Fukuda and located multiple videos on his smartphone, including one that led to his arrest as well as older footage from two or three years prior that depicted similar behaviors. This has raised serious concerns regarding Fukuda's conduct in a position of authority within the educational system. The Itoshima City Board of Education has refrained from commenting further, citing that the investigation is ongoing. Fukuda's role as the head of educational planning in the board of education brings to light larger implications regarding responsibility and safety in schools, especially related to the behavior of individuals in positions of trust within educational environments.
