Traffic will be altered during construction on the Francisco Porto Avenue viaduct in Aracaju
Construction work on the Francisco Porto viaduct in Aracaju will lead to traffic changes starting Wednesday.
A construction project aiming to restore the structural integrity and aesthetic appearance of the Francisco Porto viaduct in Aracaju is set to begin on Wednesday, the 18th. The project is being funded at approximately R$ 1.7 million and is being overseen by the Superintendência Municipal de Transportes e Trânsito (SMTT) which has indicated that significant traffic alterations will occur as a result of this work. The first phase focuses on the access ramp to Avenida Francisco Porto and promises a meticulous approach to minimize disruption wherever possible.
Traffic changes will be implemented in four stages, impacting various routes that converge at the viaduct. Initially, drivers using Avenida Hermes Fontes heading towards the downtown area can continue as usual, but access to the right for Avenida Francisco Porto will be temporarily closed. This is part of the SMTT's strategy to manage the flow of traffic effectively during the construction period while ensuring safety and efficiency for motorists. Alternative routes will be designated to help minimize congestion in the area.
The project not only aims to enhance traffic safety but also to revitalize the aesthetic value of the viaduct itself. With ongoing urban development in Aracaju, such upgrades are essential in maintaining the city's infrastructure and ensuring its ability to support increased traffic pressures. Local officials have stated that they will monitor the progress closely and provide updates to the public to keep everyone informed throughout the project duration.
