Yle: A new ABC store will be built in Rovaniemi
A new ABC convenience store will be established in Rovaniemi by the Osuuskauppa Arina co-op, replacing a former Neste service station.
Osuuskauppa Arina, which operates from Oulu to Utsjoki, has announced plans to build a mid-sized ABC convenience store in Rovaniemi, according to Yle. The new ABC will be located on a plot previously operated by the Neste Reissumies station, which will be demolished to make way for the new establishment. The area has been identified as lacking in this type of service, and the demand for an ABC store in Rovaniemi has been highlighted by both residents and travelers.
Ulla Peltoniemi, the sector manager at Arina, emphasized that there has been a long-standing gap in the ABC chain in the region, and the new store aims to cater to the need expressed by many travelers and locals. The old service station is scheduled for demolition during the summer, with full construction plans expected to start in the fall. If the schedule proceeds as planned, the new convenience store could open in the summer of next year, marking an important development in Rovaniemi's service offerings.
The construction of the new ABC store signals a commitment from Osuuskauppa Arina to improve service options for both residents and visitors, potentially boosting the local economy and enhancing the travel experience in Rovaniemi, which is a popular tourist destination in Finland. This development reflects broader trends in the retail sector where convenience and accessibility are becoming increasingly prioritized to meet consumer demands.
