Keuruu ABC Station to Close – Co-operative Keskimaa's Change Negotiations Concluded

The ABC traffic station in Keuruu will close, resulting in the dismissal of its 10 employees, although fuel sales will continue.

Osuuskauppa Keskimaa has announced the closure of its ABC traffic station in Keuruu starting March, following the conclusion of change negotiations. The head of traffic commerce at Keskimaa, Heikki Tervanen, confirmed that all 10 employees at the Keuruu station will be laid off, but the company is actively searching for alternative employment opportunities within its various other locations. Tervanen expressed a commitment to supporting the employees during this transition by facilitating job placements as positions become available.

The decision to close the ABC station comes as part of a broader effort to adapt to declining demand, and it is not limited to the station itself. The change negotiations also affect some employees of Keskimaa's restaurants, indicating an overall restructuring aimed at addressing challenges within the organization caused by market conditions. While the restaurants themselves will remain open, there will be changes to job roles and responsibilities as part of the new organizational adjustments.

This closure reflects ongoing economic pressures in the region and highlights the need for businesses to innovate and adapt to changes in consumer behavior. It underscores the importance of workforce management and the need for companies like Keskimaa to reassess their operational strategies to maintain viability in a competitive marketplace.
