Operation targets Comando Vermelho core in Rorainópolis, in southern Roraima
A police operation in Rorainópolis, Brazil, targets a core group of the Comando Vermelho crime faction with multiple arrests and searches related to drug trafficking.
On Thursday, a police operation carried out in Rorainópolis, southern Roraima, resulted in the execution of nine arrest warrants and 15 search and seizure warrants against members of the Comando Vermelho (CV) criminal faction. This operation, conducted by the Civil Police in collaboration with the Integrated Force for Combating Organized Crime (Ficco), is aimed at dismantling the local operations of the drug trafficking organization. The core group being targeted is known to be involved in the sale of various drugs, including marijuana, cocaine, crack, and LSD.
Investigations by law enforcement indicated that this faction was operating extensively in the region, with members residing in the municipality and surrounding areas, including the district of Vila Nova Colina. Authorities uncovered that these suspects were using several residences for the storage of illegal drugs and firearms. Furthermore, ahead of the operation, police intelligence reported on instances of faction members threatening and extorting drug users for payment of debts, indicating a structured and violent approach to their criminal activities.
The evidence gathered to support these actions relied significantly on judicial data extractions from mobile devices belonging to suspects, which revealed financial transactions linked to drug trafficking, pinpointing the operational strategies of the criminal group. This concerted law enforcement effort underscores the ongoing struggle against organized crime in Brazil, emphasizing the challenges faced by authorities in combating drug-related violence and the influence of criminal factions in urban areas.
