Nine are arrested in operation against Comando Vermelho in Rorainópolis, in southern Roraima

Nine individuals were arrested during Operation Broken Tracks targeting Comando Vermelho members in Rorainópolis and Manaus.

On October 12, nine people were arrested during Operation Broken Tracks, which specifically targeted members of the Comando Vermelho drug trafficking organization in southern Roraima. The operation involved executing seven preventive arrest warrants in Rorainópolis and Manaus, alongside two individuals apprehended in the act of committing crimes. Additionally, 15 search and seizure warrants were executed, with two individuals under investigation still at large.

In Roraima, five individuals were arrested, including three women aged 22, 29, and 32, and two men aged 22 and 37. Meanwhile, Amazonas police teams from the Organized Crime Repression Department (DRCO) arrested two women aged 26 and 29. The in-situ arrests occurred in the Nova Colina neighborhood, where a 21-year-old woman and her 38-year-old partner were detained for drug trafficking and conspiracy related to trafficking, along with the seizure of approximately 300 grams of marijuana.

This operation illustrates the ongoing efforts by law enforcement agencies in Brazil to combat drug trafficking and organized crime, particularly the active presence of groups like Comando Vermelho. As law enforcement aims to dismantle the network, these arrests may lead to further investigations and a broader crackdown on drug-related criminal activities in the region, a pressing concern for local communities and authorities alike.
