Operation targets Comando Vermelho nucleus in the region of Rio Claro, interior of SP, where there is a dispute with PCC

A major anti-crime operation in Rio Claro, Brazil, targets members of the Comando Vermelho gang amid ongoing conflicts with the PCC.

On November 11, a coordinated operation led by the Special Action Group to Combat Organized Crime (Gaeco) of the São Paulo Public Ministry focused on the Comando Vermelho criminal organization operating in Rio Claro, São Paulo. The operation, named Linea Rubra, is conducted in collaboration with the General Investigations Police Department of Rio Claro and involves the state’s Department of Finance, highlighting the scale and seriousness of the crackdown on organized crime in the region.

Judicial authorities have authorized extensive measures, including the seizure of up to R$ 33 million from the bank accounts of the suspects, in addition to confiscating 12 properties and 103 vehicles linked to the investigation. Additionally, 19 preventive arrest warrants have been issued, five of which were executed by the morning of November 11, along with 26 search and seizure warrants across São Paulo and Minas Gerais. The identities of those targeted have not been disclosed, hindering defense contact and indicating a sensitive phase in the investigation.

Gaeco reports that the focus of this investigation is not only to arrest gang members but also to dismantle the financial and logistical structures supporting their criminal activities. This operation comes amid ongoing turf wars between Comando Vermelho and the Primeiro Comando da Capital (PCC), reflecting the escalating violence and competition among organized crime syndicates in Brazil. The implications of this operation could extend to greater law enforcement strategies targeting drug trafficking and gang influence throughout the region.
