Chung-Ang University Selected for the 'TeX-Corps' Project by the Ministry of Science and ICT, Pursuing a 7.5 Billion Won Technology Startup Exploration Project over 5 Years
Chung-Ang University has been selected to participate in the 'TeX-Corps' project, which will support technology startup explorations with a budget of 7.5 billion won over five years.
Chung-Ang University has been chosen for the 'TeX-Corps' project managed by the Ministry of Science and ICT and the Korea Technology Commercialization Institute. This selection allows the university to operate a technology startup exploration program over the next five years with a total budget of 7.5 billion won, approximately 1.5 billion won annually. In total, 13 universities across South Korea will participate in this initiative, including six institutions located in the metropolitan area.
The 'TeX-Corps' program is designed based on the I-Corps model from the U.S. National Science Foundation and aims to connect public technologies held by universities to the market, facilitating practical startups. A notable feature of this program is its emphasis on hands-on entrepreneurial training that involves actual customer interviews and market validation rather than just theoretical teaching. Teams participating in the program will consist of students and researchers with technology-driven ideas, allowing them to validate marketability and business viability through various activities including customer interviews and strategy development.
Through the TeX-Corps initiative, Chung-Ang University plans to expand the discovery of technology-based startups and strengthen the commercialization of research outcomes. The university also intends to create a systematic support structure that seamlessly connects the phases of startup exploration, subsequent commercialization, investment linkage, and technology transfer, thereby enhancing the effectiveness of its existing entrepreneurship support programs. University officials view this project as a significant opportunity to connect the university's outstanding research achievements directly with the market, ultimately leading to tangible startup outcomes.
