Sejong University Dance Department Launches 'AI Integrated Dance Education' in 2026 Academic Year - Enhancing Practical Training with the Appointment of Professor Choi Tae-ji

Sejong University's Dance Department is set to implement an innovative 'AI Integrated Dance Education' curriculum starting in the 2026 academic year, enhancing practical training through the appointment of renowned ballet figure Professor Choi Tae-ji.

Sejong University, under president Yom Jong-hwa, has demonstrated its exceptional educational innovation capabilities by ranking highest (S grade) for three consecutive years in the Ministry of Education's evaluation of university innovation support projects. In alignment with this momentum, the university's College of Arts is set to launch a future-oriented integrated education system from the 2026 academic year, which will combine artistic and digital technology education, significantly advancing the curriculum and faculty operations to bolster practical educational capabilities.

A major highlight is the appointment of Professor Choi Tae-ji, a symbolic figure in Korean ballet and the vice chairperson of the Korean Dance Association, which is expected to enhance the field relevance and extensibility of the major. Choi has extensive experience as the artistic director of the National Ballet Company and as the director of the Jeongdong Theater, establishing a strong reputation as an arts administrator who has contributed to both the popularization of Korean ballet and international cultural exchanges.

Additionally, Sejong University is reforming its major education direction to respond to the evolving educational environment driven by AI and digital technology. This plan includes the introduction of AI-based music analysis in courses to support students in developing refined and logical choreography skills, alongside practical operational skills from production planning to execution. By fostering collaboration beyond disciplinary borders and encouraging project-based learning, the dance department aims to firmly establish a training system for future artistic talents in line with its AI-integrated educational direction.
