Honorary Retirement Ceremony for Professor Yeom Cheol-hyun at Korea Cyber University
Korea Cyber University held an honorary retirement ceremony for Professor Yeom Cheol-hyun, marking the end of his 23-year teaching career.
Korea Cyber University announced on February 24 that an honorary retirement ceremony for Professor Yeom Cheol-hyun took place on February 23 at the university's Kye-dong Campus. The event was attended by a minimal number of people and was live-streamed on the university's YouTube channel. Professor Yeom, who earned his doctoral degree in educational administration and law from the same university, has played a pivotal role in establishing the foundation for cyber education and training numerous talents since his appointment as a full-time professor in 2003.
Throughout his career, Professor Yeom has held various key positions, including head of external relations and planning, director of the multicultural family e-learning campaign, and dean of students, focusing on the development of education and institutional frameworks since the early days of the cyber university. His contributions to the universityβs growth and the cultivation of creative and integrated talents have been recognized, particularly through his engagement as a columnist in major publications and leadership roles in educational associations. Notably, he received the Minister of Education's Award in 2021 for his contributions to the development of cyber universities.
In his farewell address, Professor Yeom expressed gratitude for the strong backing that allowed faculty members to concentrate on education and research, which he believes has been crucial for the university's success. Lee Won-kyu, the university president, praised Professor Yeom's influence, highlighting his commitment to fostering a learning environment that empowers students to thrive in a society focused on lifelong education and establishing the identity and practical values of the university's curriculum.
