Quaest, 2nd round: Lula and Flávio are tied for the first time, both with 41%

A recent Quaest poll shows that President Lula and Senator Flávio Bolsonaro are tied at 41% in a potential second-round electoral matchup for the first time in history.

A new poll released by Quaest reveals that Brazilian President Lula da Silva and Senator Flávio Bolsonaro have reached a numerical tie in voter intentions, each receiving 41% support in a hypothetical second-round election matchup. This marks the first instance in the polling history where both candidates have an equal percentage of support. Previously, Lula held a substantial lead, which has dissipated over the months, highlighting a significant shift in electoral sentiment among voters.

The poll, commissioned by Genial Investimentos, gathered responses from 2,004 individuals aged 16 and older between March 6 and March 9. It indicates that Lula's lead has steadily decreased from a 10-point advantage in December to the current tie. In comparison, Flávio Bolsonaro’s support has shown a gradual increase, moving from 38% in February to his current standing of 41%, signaling a tightening race as the election approaches.

Furthermore, the survey reports that only 2% of respondents remain undecided while 16% indicated they would vote blank, null, or not participate at all. This data reflects the shifting dynamics within Brazilian politics and suggests that the upcoming electoral contests may be highly competitive, with both candidates needing to actively engage with the electorate to sway undecided voters and capitalize on their support.
