Finland's 50 Best Restaurants Have Been Selected: See the Full List
Finland's Palace restaurant has been named the best in the country for the seventh consecutive year, as part of an industry poll ranking the top 50 restaurants.
This year, the Palace restaurant in Helsinki has been recognized as Finland's best restaurant for the seventh consecutive time in a ranking of the country's top 50 restaurants, conducted by the online publication Viisi tähteä (Five Stars). Following Palace on the list are Basbas in second place, Grön in third, and Jason in fourth. The industry's professionals voted on these rankings, reflecting the evolving landscape of dining in Finland.
Viisi tähteä's editor-in-chief, Eeropekka Rislakki, commented on the trend known as 'bistromania,' which has transformed over the years into a more chef-driven phenomenon. This change emphasizes technical excellence, seasonal ingredients, experimental cuisine, and tasting menus, raising both standards and prices within the restaurant scene. Rislakki noted that while the bistro concept traditionally offered a more casual dining experience, it has increasingly begun resembling fine dining, albeit without some of its formalities.
In addition to the restaurant rankings, an acknowledgment for Outstanding Professional was awarded to Jari Vesivalo from Jason, showcasing the talent present in Finland's hospitality industry. These annual rankings not only serve to highlight the top culinary venues but also underline the changing dynamics and trends in Finnish gastronomy.
