Estoloppet's Ski Winter Enjoyed by 8500 Skiers

The 48th Haanja Marathon concluded the Estoloppet ski season, which saw a total of 7800 participants across its events this winter.

The Estoloppet ski season celebrated its 48th Haanja Marathon last weekend, marking a successful winter for skiing enthusiasts in Estonia. A total of 7800 participants took part in six Estoloppet events, highlighting the popularity of skiing in the region. As the ski season continues with the virtual 52nd Tartu Marathon, expectations are set for approximately 800 additional participants, further showcasing the community's enthusiasm for winter sports.

Kunnar Karu, the head of the Estoloppet ski series, expressed satisfaction with the winter season, noting that the weather allowed for all planned marathons to take place. He emphasized that the abundant snow and cold conditions were critical for successful event execution, especially given the unpredictability of today's weather patterns. Additionally, he praised the event organizers' efforts and highlighted the growth of new events in the calendar that attracted significant participation.

This year, several new initiatives were introduced, which the skiing community embraced warmly. Events such as the Alutaguse ÖÖsõit completely sold out, and the participation in the Korvemaa Öösõit greatly exceeded initial forecasts. These successes underline the vibrant skiing culture in Estonia and indicate a trend toward increased engagement and interest in winter sports, marking a promising future for the Estoloppet series and its community support.
