LEA: fixed price plan tariffs jumped by 2.3% over the week
The week saw an increase in fixed price plan tariffs by 2.3%, with one supplier raising rates by 4-5%.
According to agency data, during the discussed period, one independent supplier increased the rates for 12-month and 24-month fixed price plans by 4-5%, while another supplier did not change their rates. This resulted in the average price of fixed price plans for one time zone increasing from 0.273 euros to 0.279 euros, and for two time zones from 0.262 euros to 0.268 euros over the week. Conversely, the 24-month fixed price plans saw an average price rise from 0.275 euros to 0.280 euros for one time zone, and from 0.264 euros to 0.269 euros for two time zones.
Additionally, the average price for non-fixed electricity price plans currently stands at 0.306 euros per kWh, marking a 10% increase from the previous week's average of 0.278 euros. Currently, there are two suppliers offering fixed electricity prices for 6-month, 12-month, and 24-month terms, while 10-month and 14-month fixed price plans are available from only one supplier each. The increasing rates indicate a tightening of the market and potential pressures on consumers regarding electricity costs, highlighting a significant aspect of Lithuania's energy landscape in light of the changing economic conditions.
This development is crucial for consumers, particularly as electricity prices are under constant scrutiny amidst fluctuating energy markets. The moves by suppliers to increase rates reflect trends that could impact overall energy affordability in Lithuania. As the energy supply landscape shifts, stakeholders will need to monitor these changes closely to ensure that consumer interests are represented and that competition remains robust, preventing excessive price hikes that could harm households across the country.
