Today is a good time to enjoy the sun, as the weather will take a turn thereafter

Meteorologist Elina Suorsa predicts a warm day in Finland before rain and cooler temperatures arrive.

According to Yle's meteorologist Elina Suorsa, today is expected to be the warmest day of the week, particularly in western Finland where temperatures may reach up to ten degrees Celsius. This warmer air is coming from the Baltic region, which has recently seen temperatures around fifteen degrees; however, colder sea waters are preventing similar warmth from reaching Finland. Despite the sunshine, the weather is expected to shift markedly tomorrow, with rain making an appearance and temperatures dropping to below five degrees in many areas.

The forecast suggests a moist change in conditions starting Wednesday, with cloudy skies and light rain. By Thursday, Finland will experience broader rain fronts as weather systems move across the country almost daily. This shift will help melt significant snow still present in various regions, with about 15 centimeters in Uusimaa, 30 centimeters in the east, and over half a meter in the north. Until now, overnight frost has hindered the sun's ability to significantly decrease snow cover, but this will change as rainfall becomes more frequent.

Overall, the predictions indicate a shift from the relatively warm days of early spring to a more typical weather pattern, in which rain will play a significant role in altering current conditions. This is seen as a natural transition as Finland approaches spring, bringing both benefits in snow melting and challenges with potential for increased rain and cooler temperatures.
