The weather is becoming more variable – rains will reach the south on Monday

Finland is experiencing a temporary warm spell on Sunday before variable weather and rain move in on Monday, affecting temperatures across the country.

Finland is currently enjoying a spell of sunny spring weather, with temperatures reaching as high as 10 degrees Celsius in some areas, such as Hämeenlinna. Meteorologist Aleksi Lohtander reports temperatures in southern Finland on Saturday were between six and eight degrees Celsius, while central Finland lingered around five degrees, with the northern regions also experiencing mild temperatures, reaching up to six degrees in places like Pelto.

On Sunday, temperatures in southern and central Finland are expected to rise slightly, potentially reaching up to nine degrees in some areas, though the western coastline may see cooler temperatures due to fog or low clouds. Looking ahead, the weather is anticipated to shift dramatically as snow is expected in northern and eastern Lapland during the night, leading to deteriorating driving conditions. These snow showers are expected to move over to the eastern side of Finland by Sunday afternoon.

Significant temperature variations are anticipated in Lapland on Sunday, with western Lapland expected to experience around four degrees Celsius, indicating the diverse weather conditions across the country. This variability highlights the transitional nature of the Finnish spring, where warm spells can quickly give way to more inclement weather as the season progresses.
