Dismantling of the walkway on Avenida Júlio César blocks traffic in Belém; know the perimeter and schedule

The City Hall of Belém has announced the dismantling of a walkway on Avenida Júlio César due to safety concerns, causing traffic disruptions for at least 24 hours.

The City Hall of Belém confirmed that the central span of the walkway on Avenida Júlio César, measuring approximately 36 meters, is set to be dismantled starting Tuesday, October 10, following safety concerns that led to the structure's closure last Friday. The dismantling is part of the ongoing works for the Igarapé São Joaquim Urban Park, a project that the city vowed to complete in time for the upcoming COP 30 but has since faced delays.

The traffic in both directions on Avenida Júlio César will be blocked between Pedro Álvares Cabral and Conjunto Bela Vista starting at 8 PM on Tuesday. Officials estimate that the road segment will reopen within 24 hours after the dismantling operation is finished. The traffic disruptions will involve significant adjustments for local drivers and commuters, requiring effective management to minimize delays.

To facilitate the smooth flow of traffic during the closure, the Municipal Secretariat for Security, Public Order, and Mobility (Segbel) will deploy teams on-site to guide motorists. According to Isaias Reis, the director of Transportation at the secretariat, 16 agents will be stationed at strategic points to help manage the traffic situation and ensure safety during the dismantling process.
