This is how much the repatriation flight for Finns from the Middle East cost
The repatriation flight for Finns from the Middle East cost a total of €383,000, with about half charged to the passengers returning to Finland.
A recent report reveals that the total cost of the repatriation flight for Finns returning from the Middle East was €383,000, as communicated by the Finnish Ministry of Foreign Affairs to Ilta-Sanomat. Of this amount, around half, or €191,500, was charged to the passengers of the flight, which departed from Muscat, Oman, and arrived at Helsinki-Vantaa Airport via Alexandria, Egypt, early Monday morning. The costs incurred by passengers included ground transportation from Dubai and Abu Dhabi, as well as handling fees for the Ministry's reimbursement agreement.
Initially, there was interest from over 600 Finns for the repatriation flight, but ultimately about 390 registered, with just over 100 canceling their registrations. The flight carried just over 160 passengers, among whom around 70 were children. The Ministry emphasized that the allocation of seats was conducted based on need, with priority given to families with children and those considered particularly vulnerable. This response highlights the efforts of the Finnish government to assist its citizens in extraordinary circumstances while managing the costs involved in such operations.
The implications of this operation extend beyond just the financial aspect; it showcases the commitment of the Finnish government to ensure the safety and repatriation of its citizens during challenging situations. The government’s focused approach in prioritizing families and vulnerable individuals indicates a thoughtful response strategy tailored to the demographic needs of those affected, providing essential support during a time of crisis.
