The Ministry of Foreign Affairs reduced the cost of repatriation flights from the Middle East
The Finnish Ministry of Foreign Affairs has lowered the cost of repatriation flights for Finnish nationals in the Middle East to 1,230 euros.
The Finnish Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced a reduction in the cost of repatriation flights for Finnish citizens currently residing in the Middle East. Previously estimated at 2,300 euros, the new price is now set at 1,230 euros per passenger, which reflects only the cost of the return leg of the journey. This change comes amid escalating concerns about the situation in the region, emphasizing the urgency of getting citizens home safely.
The upcoming repatriation flight is scheduled to depart from Muscat, Oman, on March 8th. It is part of an initiative to facilitate the safe return of approximately 3,000 Finnish citizens who are currently in the Middle East, with about 2,000 located in the United Arab Emirates alone. The Finnish government has deemed the situation in the region serious and troubling, making this effort a priority, especially for families with children who will be given precedence on the flight.
In addition to the flight itself, the repatriation package includes shuttle bus services from Abu Dhabi and Dubai to Muscat's airport. These bus services are expected to depart early in the morning on March 8th, with exact times to be confirmed later. This coordinated effort showcases the Finnish government’s commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of its citizens abroad amid potentially worsening conditions in the region.
