The price of the repatriation flight from the Middle East has dropped by over 1,000 euros
The price for a repatriation flight from Oman to Finland has been reduced to €1,230 after previously being announced at €2,300.
The Finnish Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced that the cost for repatriation flights back to Finland from the Middle East has been significantly reduced to €1,230 per passenger, having previously been set at €2,300. These flights are part of a government effort to facilitate the return of citizens stranded abroad, following disruptions in regular air traffic due to ongoing geopolitical tensions in the region. Individuals wishing to secure a seat on the flight need to make a confirmed reservation, as the demand appears to be high.
According to Jussi Tanner, head of consular affairs at the Ministry, approximately 600 people have expressed interest in the flight, which is scheduled to depart from Oman at 4 PM local time on Sunday and is expected to arrive at Helsinki-Vantaa Airport around midnight. The flight has a limited capacity of 155 to 160 seats, indicating that not all applicants may be accommodated. Interested travelers were sent a survey allowing them to express their interest in the flight, underscoring the urgency of the situation for many Finnish citizens seeking to return home amid the current crisis.
The backdrop to this flight reduction and the repatriation efforts is the recent military action in Iran by Israel and the United States, which disrupted normal air traffic in the region. As the situation evolves, the Finnish government is taking active steps to ensure the safety and return of its citizens, highlighting the importance of governmental support in times of international crises.
