Proverde: Semarh distributes 12,000 native seedlings in three cities of Piauí
The Proverde program in Piauí distributes 12,000 native and fruit seedlings to three municipalities to promote environmental recovery and urban greening.
The Proverde Piauí program is continuing its efforts in environmental recovery and tree planting throughout the state. In its latest phase, the Piauí State Government, through the Secretary of Environment and Water Resources (Semarh), has distributed 12,000 native and fruit seedlings to three municipalities in the interior of Piauí, aiming to enhance urban greening and address areas that have been degraded. The municipalities receiving these seedlings include Várzea Branca, Bonfim do Piauí, and Fartura do Piauí, with allocations of 5,000, 3,000, and 4,000 seedlings respectively.
This initiative is part of a broader strategy under the Proverde Piauí program that seeks to foster sustainable environmental development, encourage the preservation of natural resources, and promote reforestation practices across the state. Through such initiatives, the government aims not only to green the urban landscapes but also to support sustainable agricultural production in these regions, which can improve local economies and environmental health.
According to the Secretary of Environment, Feliphe Araújo, these actions are critical in addressing deforestation and promoting biodiversity. The provision of seedlings allows local authorities to bolster their capacities for urban arborization projects, engage their communities, and raise awareness about the importance of maintaining green spaces. This sustainable approach reflects the government’s commitment to reversing environmental degradation and promoting a healthier ecosystem in Piauí.
