Trio sentenced for stealing over R$ 700,000 from Caixa agency in São José dos Campos
Three criminals were sentenced to prison terms between 16 and 23 years for stealing over R$ 700,000 from a Caixa Econômica Federal agency in São José dos Campos, Brazil.
Three criminals received sentences ranging from 16 to 23 years in prison for stealing more than R$ 700,000 from a Caixa Econômica Federal agency located in São José dos Campos, São Paulo. The Federal Court issued the sentences earlier this month. According to the Federal Public Ministry (MPF), which brought the charges, the criminals also attempted to rob a branch in Tremembé. The robbery in São José occurred in May 2021, when the trio invaded the agency through a neighboring property, successfully stealing R$ 747,700 while threatening and restraining the employees' freedom. The investigation revealed that the group operated in a structured manner, with clear division of tasks, prior planning, and the use of vehicles for logistics and escape. Months later, in August 2021, the same group tried to commit a similar robbery at a bank branch in Tremembé, but the attempt was foiled. This case highlights an organized crime trend in the region, prompting further scrutiny from local law enforcement and the Federal Public Ministry to prevent such activities in the future.
