Seoul University of Science and Technology Holds Entrance Ceremony for the 2nd Energy New Technology Convergence Program

The Seoul University of Science and Technology celebrated the entrance ceremony for the 2nd cohort of its Energy New Technology Convergence Program, backed by major energy corporations in South Korea.

On March 6, the Seoul University of Science and Technology (SUST) held an entrance ceremony for the second cohort of its Energy New Technology Convergence Program at the Techno Cube Hall in Seoul. The ceremony was attended by about 50 individuals, including SUST President Kim Dong-hwan and employees from Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO), signifying a meaningful occasion marking the new journey of future energy talents. The program aims to advance education in next-generation energy technologies and policies, with significant industry support that underscores the program’s relevance and potential impact.

The Energy New Technology Convergence Program, launched in 2025, operates with a unique curriculum that combines practical education with theoretical studies, focusing on energy processes, new materials, renewable energy, and hydrogen energy, among others. Classes are scheduled on Fridays and Saturdays, allowing students to maintain work commitments. Students enrolled in this program receive substantial financial support, covering 50-100% of tuition fees and travel costs, thus creating an environment conducive to academic focus. This particular cohort comprises 35 exemplary talents, including students selected from notable South Korean energy corporations, highlighting the program’s ability to attract high-quality candidates.

During the ceremony, after the entrance approval declaration by the president, various speeches were made, including remarks from the KEPCO Vice President. A discussion meeting preceding the ceremony facilitated partnerships between the university and industry leaders, reinforcing mutual cooperation. Following the ceremony, an orientation session was conducted by the department head to inform new students about the operational and educational plans of the program, emphasizing SUST’s commitment to adapting to industry needs and promoting sustainable energy solutions.
