Tele2 extends special mobile call rates for customers in the Middle East
Tele2 has announced an extension of special mobile call rates for customers currently in the Middle East until March 15 due to ongoing difficult circumstances in the region.
Tele2, an Estonian telecommunications company, has decided to extend the special mobile call rates for its customers in the Middle East, allowing them to benefit from discounted tariffs until March 15, due to the ongoing difficulties in exiting the region. Rasmus Nurk, the head of Tele2's private customer unit, indicated that the decision was influenced by the challenging exit circumstances for customers in the region.
As part of this extension, Oman has been added to the list of countries eligible for the discounted rates. Specifically, customers calling local numbers in Oman will receive retrospective discounts starting from March 1. This follows a report from Postimees on March 2 detailing how telecommunication companies have been offering special call rates to their customers in the Middle East, in response to the region's critical situation.
Tele2 is not alone in this initiative; other telecom companies have also provided special pricing. For instance, Telia previously announced a special rate of €0.5 per minute for calls from March 1-8 to local numbers in Bahrain, Qatar, the UAE, and Israel, as well as calls back to Estonia from these countries. These initiatives reflect the responsiveness of telecom companies to the ongoing conflicts in the Middle East and their aim to assist customers affected by the situation.
