Mobile operators will provide free calls and texts to customers in crisis-hit Middle Eastern countries
Latvian mobile operator LMT is offering free calls and texts to customers in several Middle Eastern countries affected by the ongoing crisis.
Latvian mobile operator SIA 'Latvijas mobilais telefons' (LMT) has announced that it will provide free calls and texts to its customers located in crisis-hit Middle Eastern countries. This decision comes in response to the escalating security situation in the region. Customers on postpaid plans will benefit from the free communication services while they are in the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Israel, Jordan, Qatar, Kuwait, Oman, and Saudi Arabia.
LMT Group President Juris Binde emphasized the importance of facilitating communication during times of uncertainty and rapid change. The initiative is designed to ensure the safety of individuals in the affected areas and to offer them a reliable means to communicate with their families and services. Free communication will be available until the end of the week, with a deadline set for Sunday, March 8, at 11:59 PM; however, this period may be extended depending on the situation's developments in the region.
In addition to LMT, the telecommunications company Tele2 also expressed its support and commitment to ensuring connectivity for its clients in the affected areas, further highlighting the role of mobile operators in providing essential services during crises. This response reflects a growing trend among telecommunications companies to prioritize customer welfare and safety during international conflicts or emergencies, thus underlining the industry's critical role in crisis management.
