In Response to Turmoil in the Middle East, 'Telia' Rushes to Help: It Works Immediately
Telia has activated free communication services for customers in eleven Middle Eastern countries in response to rising tensions and violence in the region.
Telia, a telecommunications provider, has announced it will offer free communication services to customers located in eleven Middle Eastern countries until the end of the week. The countries benefiting from this service include Israel, Bahrain, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Oman, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Iran, Iraq, and Lebanon. This initiative is part of Telia's commitment to ensure the safety and well-being of its customers during turbulent times.
Lina BandzinΔ, head of Telia's consumer division, emphasized the importance of staying connected in times of crisis, stating that safety and communication with loved ones should not be hindered by costs. The free services include not only calls but also SMS messages, facilitating easier communication both within the designated countries and back to Lithuania. The move reflects a growing awareness among telecommunications companies about their role in providing support during international crises.
As tensions escalate in the Middle East, many civilians are concerned about their safety and maintaining contact with family and friends. By eliminating charges for communication in these impacted regions, Telia aims to alleviate some of the stress for those affected and ensure they can access critical information. This response may also set a precedent for other companies to consider similar measures in the future during times of unrest.
