Rio Preto Academy Offers Free Training in Self-Defense Techniques for Women

A gym in São José do Rio Preto, Brazil, is offering free self-defense training for women in honor of International Women's Day.

In celebration of International Women's Day, a gym in São José do Rio Preto (SP) specializing in Krav Maga is organizing free self-defense training sessions for women. This initiative, set for March 14 from 2 PM to 6 PM, aims to empower women with essential self-defense skills against potential attacks or threats. According to a National Survey on Violence Against Women, approximately 3.7 million Brazilian women experienced some form of domestic or family violence in 2025, highlighting the urgent need for such training programs. The survey involved responses from over 21,000 women, shedding light on the alarming rates of violence against females in Brazil. The training will be conducted by instructors from the South American Krav Maga Federation, located in the Vivendas neighborhood. They will focus on practical defense strategies applicable to everyday situations such as purse snatching, hair pulling, choking, and attempted rape, aiming to enhance the safety and confidence of participants.
