Authorities in Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, are introducing new tools to combat violence against women, including a digital map of available services and a panic button system.
In response to the alarming rates of violence against women in Rio Grande do Sul (RS), Brazilian authorities are implementing innovative protective measures. Since the beginning of 2026, there have already been 20 reported femicides, and currently, there are 12,000 active protective measures in place to safeguard victims. Recognizing the challenges in addressing domestic violence—often exacerbated by the fact that perpetrators are frequently part of the victim's social circle—officials are looking for effective solutions.
