A flight operated by GetJet Airlines carrying Lithuanian citizens landed in Vilnius from Abu Dhabi, marking the fourth evacuation flight due to the conflict in the Middle East.

On Friday evening, a GetJet Airlines flight successfully landed at Vilnius Airport (VNO) at 23:07, bringing back Lithuanian citizens from Abu Dhabi as part of an evacuation effort spurred by the ongoing Middle Eastern conflict. This marks the fourth direct flight organized to repatriate citizens from the UAE. According to the Lithuanian Tourism Association, this flight was set to bring back approximately 170 citizens, alongside other nationals from Latvia, Estonia, and Romania.

The Lithuanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported that the flight arrived with 166 passengers onboard, including 117 Lithuanian citizens, 25 from Latvia, 23 from Estonia, and one from Romania. It was noted that there were still about 70 seats available on the flight, indicating a significant capacity that could have been utilized given the circumstances. The Ministry's efforts reflect a broader attempt to secure safe returns for vulnerable groups affected by the escalating military actions in the region.

This evacuation comes amidst heightened tensions in the region, with vulnerable individuals such as pregnant women, families with young children, and those suffering from critical illnesses prioritized for return to safety. The situation underscores the immediate need for effective communication and initiatives to ensure the safety of citizens abroad during such conflicts, and it highlights the ongoing concerns regarding the stability in the Middle East, which might impact various nations and their citizens.
