Lithuania has signed a contract with flydubai for the repatriation of citizens from Dubai

Lithuania plans to repatriate its citizens from Dubai through a contract with flydubai, prioritizing vulnerable populations.

In response to a decision by the National Security Commission to evacuate the most vulnerable Lithuanian citizens, the Lithuanian government has secured a contract with flydubai to facilitate this repatriation. Transport Minister Jurs Taminsks expressed confidence that citizens would soon return safely to their families. The operation is carefully planned, with the first group of citizens expected to return to Lithuania within days, indicating a swift response to the urgency of their situation.

The chartered flight, capable of carrying 170 passengers, is set to depart from Dubai. The Lithuanian Ministry of Transport has highlighted that priority will be given to the most vulnerable groups during the evacuation, including individuals with disabilities, pregnant women, and those who are socially disadvantaged, ensuring that those least able to travel independently are prioritized in this operation. The involvement of the Ministry underscores the government's commitment to supporting its citizens in crisis situations.

Additionally, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has identified approximately 2,000 Lithuanian citizens currently in the UAE, with over half of them in Dubai. This large number emphasizes the scale of the humanitarian effort required, as vulnerable individuals seek assistance in returning to Lithuania amidst challenging circumstances. The coordination between various governmental agencies highlights a proactive approach to crisis management and citizen safety, particularly in an uncertain global context.
