The Latvian government has announced funding of 752,000 euros from its budget for unexpected situations to facilitate the repatriation of citizens currently in the United Arab Emirates. The funding is aimed at supporting up to five repatriation flights, with individual transport costs anticipated to be around 1,000 euros per person, based on information provided by airBaltic. Additionally, passengers will be responsible for a co-payment of 350 euros to cover part of their airfare on these repatriation flights.
The government is planning the flight operations to cater to approximately 150 people per trip, with routes set to operate from Dubai. Priority for repatriation will be given to families with young children, unaccompanied minors, persons with health and mobility impairments, pregnant women, seniors, individuals with disabilities, and other socially vulnerable groups. This approach underscores the government's commitment to assisting those who are most in need during this crisis.
Prime Minister has expressed that further detailed information will be provided regarding these repatriation efforts.
