Aegean: The first repatriation flight took place – Two more today Thursday and tomorrow Friday, March 6
Aegean Airlines completed its first repatriation flight for Greek citizens from Oman to Athens, with two additional flights scheduled from Dubai and Muscat.
Aegean Airlines has successfully conducted its inaugural repatriation flight for Greek citizens stranded abroad due to various circumstances, flying them from Muscat International Airport in Oman to Athens International Airport, Eleftherios Venizelos, on March 4. The airline has announced plans for two more flights to aid in the repatriation of Greeks currently in the Middle East, including a flight from Dubai on March 5 and another one from Muscat on March 6.
The purpose of these flights is to facilitate the safe return of Greek citizens and their families who find themselves in precarious situations in the Gulf region. Aegean Airlines stated that these flights have been organized at the request of the Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and thus, flight reservations cannot be made directly through the airline. Instead, citizens needing assistance are advised to contact the relevant Greek Embassies or Consulates and register their details through the appropriate channels.
Such government-backed repatriation flights highlight the ongoing efforts by the Greek authorities to ensure the safety and welfare of their citizens abroad, particularly during times of crisis. The operation reflects a collaborative approach between the airline industry and government entities to respond to the needs of affected populations, showcasing the importance of international cooperation in managing emergencies.
