Arrest of Air Self-Defense Force Officer from Komatsu Base for Involvement in Refund Fraud
A Japan Air Self-Defense Force officer has been arrested by Saitama Prefectural Police for allegedly participating in a refund fraud scheme.
On May 5th, Saitama Prefectural Police arrested Tatsu Michi Nose, a 30-year-old officer from the Japan Air Self-Defense Force's Komatsu Base, on charges of fraud and theft involving the use of electronic devices. Nose has partially admitted to the charges, acknowledging that he withdrew money but denying that he made the fraudulent calls. The police's investigation indicates that on September 29, 2025, Nose conspired with another individual to pose as municipal employees, misleading a 76-year-old woman in Iruma City into believing she was entitled to a refund from her pension. Subsequently, they tricked her into transferring funds to an account under Nose's name, which he accessed to withdraw approximately 490,000 yen from an ATM in Komatsu City on the same day.
