North and East Express lines promise to reduce travel time in Manaus by up to 40 minutes; check itineraries
Manaus is introducing two new express bus lines aimed at reducing travel time by up to 40 minutes between the East and North zones of the city.
The public transport system in Manaus is set to enhance its service with the introduction of two new express bus lines, the Expresso Norte and Expresso Leste, starting Monday. These lines will replace the traditional operating schedules of previous routes 300 and 672, aiming to significantly decrease travel times between key city zones. The Municipal Urban Mobility Institute (IMMU) estimates that passengers could save approximately 40 minutes on their total journey, a substantial improvement for daily commuters.
In addition to improved travel times, the new express service will feature modern payment options for passengers. For the first time, travelers will be able to pay for their bus rides directly on the vehicles using credit and debit cards via contactless payment methods. This advancement from previous systems, where such payments were limited to terminals and stations, is expected to enhance convenience for users, making public transportation a more attractive option.
The introduction of the Expresso Norte line will begin at the Integration Terminal 3, indicating a focused effort to streamline and modernize public transport connections in Manaus. This initiative not only promises to facilitate easier commutes for residents but also reflects broader efforts to improve urban mobility in Brazilian cities. The implications for reducing congestion and enhancing public transit efficiency could positively influence urban planning in the future, encouraging more people to utilize public transportation options in Manaus.
