Duksung Women's University Conducts Field Visit for Local Food Distribution System with Faculty from National University of Battambang in Cambodia

Duksung Women's University recently hosted a field visit for five faculty members from Cambodia's National University of Battambang to study advanced local food distribution systems in Yangpyeong, South Korea.

Duksung Women's University, led by President Min Jae-hong, engaged in a field visit on the 21st of last month with five faculty members from the National University of Battambang in Cambodia to explore advanced local food distribution systems in the Yangpyeong area. This initiative, part of a project aimed at fostering leading international cooperation universities, provided an opportunity for the Cambodian faculty to learn about effective agricultural product distribution and processing support, focusing on the establishment of a distribution center tailored to their needs.

The field visit was conducted in collaboration with the Yangpyeong Eco-Friendly Local Food Social Cooperative, where the group received insightful guidance from Chairperson Jeon Joo-seon and Team Leader Byun Yoo-ra. During the visit, the faculty reviewed various aspects of the local food distribution structure, such as the producer-participatory operating model, quality and hygiene management systems, and consumer trust mechanisms. Specific attention was given to the methods of producer organization, management frameworks at different distribution stages, and examples of local circular economy models, which sparked significant interest among the visiting faculty members.

Chairperson Jeon emphasized that the competitiveness of local agriculture stems from the trust between producers and consumers. He expressed hope that Yangpyeong's local food model could serve as a meaningful reference for the Battambang region in Cambodia, aiding agricultural development and increasing farmers' income. Duksung Women's University plans to continue supporting the development of tailored educational programs in collaboration with the National University of Battambang to enhance practical skills and build a sustainable model for international development cooperation.
