The City Hall of São Paulo is inviting residents to participate in the selection of new urban furniture prototypes on display until March 29.
The City Hall of São Paulo is engaging residents in a unique opportunity to help shape the urban landscape by involving them in the selection of new urban furniture. Until March 29, the prototypes from the National Urban Furniture Projects Competition are showcased at Praça Dom José Gaspar in downtown São Paulo. This initiative complements the DW! Design Week 2026, which is the largest design event in Latin America, taking place next to the square at the Galeria Metrópole.
This urban furniture initiative, promoted by the Municipal Secretariat of Urbanism and Licensing (SMUL) and São Paulo Urbanism, aims to upgrade and expand the available urban furniture options for the city. The selected designs are intended to offer creative and sustainable solutions that can be integrated into various public works and interventions across different municipal departments. The event not only highlights innovative designs but also emphasizes the importance of community involvement in urban planning.
By inviting residents to know, use, and evaluate the prototypes, the City Hall is fostering a sense of ownership among citizens regarding their public spaces. Such initiatives are crucial for enhancing public engagement and ensuring that urban developments meet the needs and preferences of the community, ultimately aiming to improve the quality of life in São Paulo by creating more comfortable and environmentally friendly urban environments.
