The city of Santos, Brazil, has signed an agreement with the São Paulo government for urbanization and housing improvements in Vila Gilda, aiming for sustainable infrastructure development.
The Dique da Vila Gilda in Santos, located on the coast of São Paulo, is set to receive significant investments aimed at urbanization and housing improvements through the city’s engagement with the São Paulo government's Programa Bairro Paulista – Cidades Sustentáveis. This initiative focuses on enhancing urban infrastructure and living conditions using sustainable solutions, as part of a broader effort to create more livable and environmentally friendly urban spaces.
The announcement was made during a ceremony at the Palácio dos Bandeirantes in São Paulo, attended by key figures such as Governor Tarcísio de Freitas and Secretary of Urban Development and Housing, Marcelo Branco, along with mayors and officials from various regions. This partnership marks a significant step for the municipality, emphasizing collaboration between local government and state authorities to address urban challenges in Vila Gilda.
As part of the first phase of the project, the city will develop plans for a linear park, which will involve integrated efforts between the Municipality of Santos, the local housing company COHAB-Santista, and the state housing authority CDHU. The implementation of this project exemplifies the ongoing commitment to sustainable urban development in Brazilian cities, addressing both infrastructure needs and housing solutions for residents.
