Auction for the construction of a new government headquarters in Downtown SP will be this Thursday; learn details of the project

The São Paulo government is set to auction the contract for building its new administrative center in the city center, a significant campaign promise of Governor Tarcísio de Freitas.

On Thursday, October 26th, the São Paulo government will hold an auction at the B3 stock exchange to select a contractor for the construction and management of the new Administrative Center of the state. This project aims to move the government headquarters from the iconic Palácio dos Bandeirantes in Morumbi to a new complex near Praça Princesa Isabel in the central area of the city.

Governor Tarcísio de Freitas, who made this development a key promise during his campaign, underscores the project’s importance for enhancing administrative efficiency and providing better access to citizens. Two consortia have submitted bids through a Public-Private Partnership (PPP), competitive in nature, with the winning group expected to offer the largest discount on the state’s payments to the contractor over a contract duration of 30 years.

The high-stakes auction features notable contenders such as the Acciona-Construcap consortium and the MEZ-RZK Novo Centro consortium. The outcome of this bidding process will significantly impact local governance in São Paulo, potentially reshaping the state’s administrative landscape and influencing future urban development.
