São Paulo's municipal government has approved a project to transform a section of downtown into a vibrant space akin to New York's Times Square, with construction expected to start in March 2024.
The Conpresp, São Paulo's municipal heritage council, approved a project called Eixo São João - Boulevard São Paulo during a meeting on September 23. This initiative plans to install large electronic panels at the intersection of Ipiranga and São João avenues, leading to its nickname as 'Paulistana Times Square,' aiming to create a tourist attraction similar to that of New York's famous site. The project is part of a larger strategy to enhance the city’s urban landscape and encourage tourism.
