Two Estonian snowboarders made it to the top twenty at the junior world championships

Two young Estonian snowboarders, Laura Anga and Gregor Parts, achieved notable placements at the junior world championships in Calgary, Canada, with Anga finishing 12th and Parts 17th in their respective competitions.

Laura Anga, a 16-year-old Estonian snowboarder, secured the 12th position in the park competition at the junior world championships held in Calgary, Canada. Her performance was remarkable considering the challenging weather conditions that postponed the women's qualification originally scheduled for Friday to Saturday. Anga managed to advance to the finals by finishing fifth in her qualification heat but struggled with her landings in the final runs due to fatigue.

Gregor Parts, aged 17, finished 17th in the men's qualification, which took place on the same day when the women's event was delayed. The decision to proceed with the men's qualification despite the weather was seen as beneficial, allowing the athletes to perform their runs as planned. Parts expressed satisfaction with his performance, particularly in the second run.

The results highlight the promising potential of Estonian athletes in international snowboarding, showcasing their ability to compete at a high level despite adverse conditions. This achievement can inspire further support and investment in winter sports in Estonia, encouraging younger athletes to pursue their sporting ambitions in the face of challenges.
