A report highlights a dramatic rise in the number of travel insurance claims from Lithuania in Southeast Asia, with incidents increasing nearly sixfold over four years.
Recent statistics from Lithuania's largest insurance company, 'Lietuvos draudimas,' reveal a concerning trend in travel safety for Lithuanians visiting Southeast Asia. Over the last four years, the number of insurance claims related to travel incidents in this region has surged nearly sixfold, from just over 50 claims in 2022 to almost 300 last year. The total payouts for these claims exceeded β¬330,000, emphasizing the risks that travelers face in these popular destinations.
The report indicates that Thailand, a favored travel location for Lithuanians, has recorded the highest number of adverse events. ArtΕ«ras Juodeikis, the claims department director at 'Lietuvos draudimas,' noted that the average claim amount varies significantly, ranging from several hundred to over 800 euros, while the largest single payout reached nearly β¬37,000. This highlights not only the rising frequency of incidents but also the severity of some travel-related issues that Lithuanians encounter abroad.
Such rising statistics serve as a warning for potential travelers considering Southeast Asia as their next vacation spot. With the increasing number of claims and the financial implications of travel incidents, it's crucial for travelers to be adequately prepared and informed about the risks. Travelers may need to enhance their awareness of safety protocols and insurance coverage to mitigate potential dangers during their journeys.
