Lithuanians' phones revealed unexpected travel destinations: some countries are very exotic

In the past year, Lithuanians traveled actively, recording over 8.6 million instances of roaming use, with many destinations being surprisingly exotic.

Last year, the people of Lithuania actively traveled, resulting in more than 8.6 million instances of roaming usage. This suggests that Lithuanians are using their phones abroad as extensively as they do at home, for activities such as navigation, communication with family, leisure, and work. According to Mindaugas Rauba, the Technology Director at BitÄ— Lietuva, a good mobile connection while traveling has become as essential as a passport or travel ticket.

Rauba points out that the roaming statistics account for usage periods rather than unique clients or their travels. If an individual spends several months in one country, each month's usage is recorded separately, which reflects the intensity of mobile connection use. The data indicates a marked pattern in where Lithuanians are traveling, with Central and Western European countries being particularly popular for Lithuanian travelers.

Germany remains the most popular destination, largely influenced by the increasing number of German soldiers and their family members who are traveling between Lithuania and Germany. The statistics reveal a growing trend in travel patterns, underscoring the importance of mobile connectivity as an integral part of modern travel for Lithuanians, as it enhances the overall travel experience and enables connectivity with home.
