A giant ice carousel is spinning in Lappajärvi - the diameter of the world record disc is 602 meters

A new world record ice carousel with a diameter of 602 meters has been made in Lappajärvi, Finland.

In Lappajärvi, a new world record has been achieved with the creation of an ice carousel that boasts a diameter of 602 meters. This impressive structure weighs 140,000 tons, equivalent to about three Silja Symphony-sized ships. Janne Käpylehto, the master of the carousel, noted that the original plan was to create at least a 550-meter carousel, and the new record surpasses the previous one of 515 meters, also attributed to Käpylehto's team from 2023. The construction's success relies on both the ice quality and the weather conditions which influence how smoothly the carousel can rotate.
